Windy City Blown Away by Omnia.11

25 February, 2011, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Just last week, a shipment of Omnia.11s arrived in Chicago, which were immediately deployed at three different Chicago FM facilities.

We will respect the wishes of two stations to keep their secret under wraps for now, but we can let you in on the third.

Crawford Broadcasting’s WPWX (Power 92) is now shaking the buildings with an Omnia.11 powering their Urban format with a clarity and intensity unlike anything heard before on the dial in the Windy City.

“We’ve had the Omnia.11 on air for a very short time, but we are already gratified that the overall audio quality is dramatically superior to what he had before” says Art Reis, Chief Engineer, Crawford Chicago Operations “One of the things that the staff noticed right away, was that vocals on songs jump right out better than we have ever heard before. We are already planning on buying more Omnia.11s for our other stations”.

Omnia.11 is showing up everywhere and we are starting to hear from people like Art who are truly excited about their Omnia.11 experience. Often we hear about positive airstaff and management comments, arriving unsolicited to the Chief Engineer’s e-mail within hours of the upgrade.

This is all not just a coincidence, of course. It is by design.

The firmware in Omnia.11 takes advantage of software capabilities never before possible. The results are dynamics algorithms that were once only a dream of the processing enthusiast. AGCs, Compressors, and Limiters analyze music in real time and adjust internal parameters for optimum performance across a broad range of material.

Special attention was paid to the behavior of live voice quality. The improved performance of the AGC and limiter functions generate live voice clarity and impact far beyond that which was previously possible.

The bass enhancement algorithm is a key feature of the Omnia.11. Low end is now broadcast with recording studio-like punch and impact, with no traditional side-effects whatsoever.

Art loves the last feature, by the way, for the Urban format of Power 92.

We invite you to feel the new power of Power 92 the next time you are in Chicago.

Oh, and you’ll be able to identify the other two stations. Even without us tipping you off.
