Radio in Italy adds more Axia
26 August, 2008, Cleveland Ohio, USA
Another Italian broadcaster has upgraded to Axia Audio, deploying IP-Audio for a complete studio rebuild.
Radio Oreb, located in Lisiera (about 75 km. east of Venice) is part of Italy’s “Radio in Blue” syndication network. The project encompassed two broadcast studios, which were rebuilt with Axia Element modular broadcast consoles and an IP-Audio Network consisting of Axia AES/EBU Nodes, Analog Nodes and Microphone Nodes, plus StudioEngine mixing engines and assorted control software.
The Radio Oreb installation was performed by Feel Communications (www.feel.it), Axia’s Italian distributor, and includes playout systems and routing automation control provided by Axia partner WinMedia (www.winmedia.fr), whose systems integrate with the Axia network. Radio Oreb is the latest of a string of high-profile Axia installations in Italy which include projects for Radio SudTirol1, Radio Globo and Radio Centro Suono Sport.
Axia pioneered the use of IP-Audio for radio broadcasting in 2004. Since then, more than 1,000 studios worldwide have been built with Axia components. With Axia, broadcasters can build audio networks of any size using standard switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
Axia products include popular Element modular broadcast consoles, a family of “audio nodes” that allow easy mixing and matching of digital, analog and microphone audio, and a comprehensive suite of network administration and routing control software.
