Telos Systems Zephyr iPort PLUS Multi-Codec Gateway Gets New Features December 08, 2016

The Telos Alliance®—leader in broadcast technology and parent company to Telos®, Omnia®, Axia®, 25-Seven®, Linear Acoustic®, and Minnetonka™—announced today a new software update for its Telos Systems Zephyr® iPort PLUS Multi-Codec Gateway. V2.1, available now, offers new features and improvements for this highly versatile unit. 

Many broadcasters operate studios in different buildings, separated by a few hundred feet, across town, or even a few hundred miles. Often, they’d like to share audio sources between or among these studio locations. Or perhaps a one-to-many distribution scheme is needed. The Telos Zephyr iPort PLUS can handle all of it.

This multi-codec, multi-destination IP-audio gateway connects two or more studio locations together with audio, metadata, and GPIO. It transports multiple channels of stereo audio across IP networks including private WANs, IP-radio links, and over the public internet. Hundreds of Telos iPorts are connecting remote studios, providing long-distance STL connections, distributing syndicated programming across continents, and even encoding audio for web streaming.

To give broadcasters more flexibility and effectiveness, Telos has just released the new v2.1 software, available on the Zephyr iPort PLUS product page under the Software section. 

Zephyr iPort PLUS v2.1 contains a few improvements and several new features, including: 

• A blocking mechanism to prevent a wrong image from booting

• A syslog message that indicates the value of an invalid source IP address

• Stream recognition by stream ID

• Built-in production test for software-hardware matching

• CF image conversion package for versions 1.6 and older

• Complete migration to standard syslog

• Configure decoder-buffering using Livewire® Routing protocol

• An updated revision of the user manual added to the software package for download in the field
