Telos, Omnia End-to-End Webcasting Demonstration

Demonstration to be shown at Streaming Media West

12 December 2000, Cleveland, OH USA

Telos Systems’ Audioactive and Omnia divisions plan on demonstrating just how good an end-to-end webcasting solution can sound during the Streaming Media West show in San Jose, December 12-15, 2000.

Visitors to Telos partner GMV Network’s display in Booth #527 can see and hear the benefits of an end-to-end streaming solution that employs the Audioactive MPEG Realtime Hardware Encoder, Omnia-3net digital audio processor and GMV Network AudioEdge.

“With the wide variety of platforms, encoding formats and software audio players in the streaming marketplace, we think the simplicity of an out-of-the-box solution speaks for itself,” commented Telos Systems National Sales Director Marty Sacks. “Telos Systems’ long involvement with audio processing and digital audio for broadcasting can help webcasters serve listeners with the cleanest audio possible. Our solution is very simple: audio goes in; streamed audio comes out.”

In the demonstration, the Omnia-3net audio processor is used to preprocess incoming audio and optimize it for the bit-reduced environment prior to encoding. Audioactive’s MPEG Realtime Hardware Encoder then encodes processed audio as an MP3 stream, after which it is fed to GMV Network’s AudioEdge server.

Complementing Telos’ streaming solution, GMV Network’s AudioEdge server eliminates the need for webcasters to select a single proprietary format (such as RealAudio or Microsoft's Windows Media) to stream their audio, instead allowing up to 2000 concurrent users to receive the streamed audio using any MP3- compliant software player.
